Your visit to the Ironbridge Gorge is not complete until you have included Maws Craft Centre in your itinerary. Maws Craft Centre is home to 30 small businesses, around 20 of which are small independently run shops that are open throughout the year.
Members of the Midland Gliding Club first flew from the Long Mynd in 1934. It is not only one of the longest established gliding clubs in the UK but also one of Britain's prime gliding sites.
Prehistoric Bronze Age stone circle 85 feet in diameter, consisting originally of some 30 stones of which 15 are now visible.
The Corbet family replaced their fortified home with a stone castle in about 1239. This was extended in 1538, and again in the 1580's with a great Elizabethan wing, now itself a spectacular ruin.
At the Museum of the Gorge you can view a 12 metre scale model of the Gorge as it was in 1796.
